ANACONDA — Jack J. Softich died March 9, 2010, at his home near Georgetown Lake.

He was born in Anaconda, on April 17, 1940, to Tony and Ann (Mikich) Softich. Jack graduated from Anaconda High School and went on to earn a bachelor’s degree from the University of Montana in Missoula.

Jack served in the Air Force and then entered the Army Air Force Exchange System. He served all over the world, including time in Germany, Thailand, Turkey and Texas. Jack returned to Anaconda to care for his mother and retire.

He was a member of the Croatian Fraternal Union and St. Peter’s Parish. He enjoyed spending time with family, close friends and working on various projects around his home. Jack was always keeping himself informed on world news and the financial world on a daily basis.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his brother, Tony (Patti) Softich; niece, Jessica; good friends, Tony and Sandy Puccinelli and Marilyn and Patty Ryan; family, Buddy Softich and the Softich clan; cousins, Bill Antonich, John Pecarich, and Mike and Vivian Pecarich; and numerous other family and friends.

Memorials in Jack’s name may be made to the National Center on Sleep Disorders Research, National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute, NIH, 6701 Rockledge Drive, Bethesda, MD 20892.

At Jack’s request, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held later in the summer. For service details and to express condolences, contact Tony at tony @softich.com.
